Should parents be held legally accountable for their children's actions?
My cousin got multiple speeding tickets on different occasions and on one of his last ones, my uncle was called to get the car. The cop scolded him and told him to teach his son the importance of driving safely. My uncle did do so but my cousin got pulled over yet again. This time around both him AND my uncle got community service (my uncle had to miss work) for two weeks, it was honestly kind of hilarious ngl 😂, it was said that next time my uncle would face legal charges. This time my uncle was pissed!!! He took the car away for I don't know how long and threatened my cousin with taking the car away period.
Another story from my town: A high-school couple had a baby and the girl had to drop out do to her circumstances. She asked for child support but the boy's parents claimed the boy couldn't cuz he had to finish school, the girl objected the she too had quit school to take care of the baby but the parents said "Oh well". Not too long, parents got a court order that THEY had to pay child-support, obviously they protested but the court said child-support was do no matter what, well lo and behold they made the boy get an after school job to take care of the payments.
This has me wondering if parents should be
held more legally liable to their children's actions. Would this have more of an impact then just letting it be "kid behavior "? What are your thoughts?
