Tips to help toddler become more independent
My almost 3 year old is a bit behind in some milestones. One of the main ones is problem solving, but she really is smart, she just asks for help for things a lot, so when scoring her, we had to mark “no” for a lot of those questions related to that. A lot are revolved around being independent, so the school recommended focusing on giving her more independence which I think is a good idea
I catch myself all the time doing something that I should have her do. I’m trying to work on that and give her the opportunity to do more things on her own. Like now she helps with cleaning up after herself, food prep, helping pick out her clothes and bring them where they belong, loading silverware into the dishwasher, feeding the cat, laundry. But why else can we start doing? It comes so naturally to me to just do everything myself so it’s kind of a challenge for me to stop what feels natural to me and think of ways I can help give her more opportunity to do things herself and independence. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
