Crib to toddler bed?

I need advice on how you transitioned from a crib to a toddler bed and what is the safest? I wanted to get him a car bed with higher sides cuz he rolls around so much or I thought about a floor bed with railing. The main reason I’m doing this is because he tries to climb out of his crib and also I’m having my daughter via C-section and won’t have help after two weeks due to my husband having to go back to work and I won’t be able to pick him up in and out of the crib.
