Sleep training doesn't seem to be working...
Question about our daughter's sleep because my husband and I are at our wits end: Our daughter is 11 months, and she doesn't know how to lay calmly in her crib to fall asleep. She stands up, walks back and forth and jumps up and down. Only two things have worked: (1) laying her on her back and physically holding her legs down (gently, but firmly if she tries to get up), or (2) leaving her to walk and jump around in her crib, which always causes her to end up in hysterics, screaming and crying for 30-45 mins until she's so worn out she falls asleep. We've tried sleep training (sitting next to the crib, slowly moving the chair further away every few nights). It doesn't matter if we're present or not, unless we physically hold her down, she screams and cries. And even when we do hold her down she usually protests some. Also, bending over the crib to hold her for 30 minutes is just unsustainably painful for my back and arms.
Some more details for context: We have given her a consistent bedtime routine for months, so she knows bedtime is coming. She's not just hungry because she's getting enough food throughout the day. How can we help her learn to settle down at night and go to sleep?
