Can treatment for a misdiagnosed std harm my baby?

Tynisha • Mother to Skye
ER doctor diagnosed me with gonorrhea chlamydia and treated me without my acknowledgement. I found out after my pelvic exam that a iv bag was hooked up . went for a follow up 3 days later to find out my results was negative. I tried explaining that my primary Dr tested me prior for any std. I'm just worried if it would harm my unborn baby.

No it will harm your baby if left untreated

I tried explaining i was already tested by my obgyn prior to my emergency visit. The nurse was rude and inexperienced. I was left in a hallway following my ultrasound for an hour. I was treated for something i didn't have and was just curious if my baby would be harmed

Not sure how they started an IV without you knowing...?? And as long as you did your job as a patient and told your doctor you were pregnant, they wouldn't use any antibiotics that could harm the baby. And they were probably weighing the risks vs benefits of you possibly having an infection and not treating it while they waited for results...not treating a possible infection that long could definitely harm a baby.

my iv port was already in my arm from when they took blood. the nurse connected it while i was getting a pelvic exam done by the Dr. They know im pregnant, i also did an ultrasound and urine test while there.

I also don't understand how she didn't notice them putting an IV in her. I also feel like if they were going to do anything that could harm a baby they would have tested her for pregnancy beforehand anyways?

Do you know what medicines they used in your IV?
