Should 20 year olds have a curfew?

So I wanted to hang with some friends for New Years because I never get to see them but my mother wanted me home by 12. I have been in college for 3 years now and I still feel like I'm 16. Can someone just tell me why 20 year olds need a curfew?

I'm in college and will soon be 20. The bottom line is that, if I'm at my own apartment or dorm in my college town my parents have no say over what I do. But if I come home for the weekend or a break, I'm expected to follow their rules because it is their house. They pay the bills and they aren't required to even allow me to step into their home. I am grateful that they allow me to stay in their home whenever I want, and I show that gratitude by following their requests as to when I come home. It's because parents naturally worry about their children. When I'm away at college they have no way of knowing that I'm safe in my bed, but when I'm in their home they will worry if I stay out all night. I don't ever make overnight plans with a friend when I'm at home without telling my parents because it's just a respect thing.

I live with my parents, I'm 18 and I dont have a cerfew. They get aggravated at me being gone all the time but they don't say much else. Just let them know what youre doing. My grandparents are very religious, my mom not so much, but we all live together and they know i drink, but they also know im not dumb enough to get into a bad situation. Maybe just talk to them?

My parents stopped telling me what to do when I went to college. I would just let them know where I was. But if you live with them, you should follow their rules.

I'm 19 and live at home during university as I attend school in my home city but a lot of my friends don't. And the "my house, my rules" thing still stands when they come home! It's understandable, if you want to make plans that perhaps go later than your curfew then I would recommend bringing it up well ahead of time to give them a bit of a heads up :)
