Why would you get back together with an ex?

What personal reasons do you have that would mean you'd be okay getting back together with an ex? For me, the timing was off and we were going through major life changes at the time.

I always had the mentality of if we broke up we were done, we could be friends but chance for romance had come and gone. However, my husband and I dated in hs broke up, kept running into each other for 6 years while I was with my ex. Every time we would see each other I would spend the rest of the week torn over the feelings I still had. When my ex and I broke up he was there for me stricktly as a friend for almost a year until I asked him if he wanted to give it another go.
Now we are happily married and have a beautiful daughter and #2 on the way. What I have learned is if it is meant to be it will happen so making rules like once we break up we are done doesn't work. Unless you break up because of domestic violence or anything physically or emotionally abusive. Then you stay the hell away.

I did. He made all the mistakes, he put in the effort to change. It took a long time for him to gain back my trust and I did not make it easy but now 8 years on 1 year of marriage and a 3 year old daughter and I'm so happy with how everything has turned out, our journey together hasn't been easy but it's made us stronger both personally and as a couple. We got together young made mistakes and learnt from them and now we've grown up together.  I love my husband so very much, I'd be lost without him.

No, the relationships all ended for a reason.?jnlook back without bitterness, but none of them were the right one, and I knew most of the time at the time too. My current SO is the right one.
