When to do an ovulation test

Question

I am 40 and have a 30 day cycle.  I've been doing ovulation testing for past few days in the morning and getting a low reading. Should I be doing it at a different time and cycle day?

I have a 28/29 day cycle. I started testing on day 9, it came back negative, day 10 came back high fertility, day 11 came back peak. So I ovulated sometime between day 12 or 13.  When it comes back peak you ovulate 24-36 hours afterwards. I am using Clear Blue digital OPK.

The next morning after u stop ur cycle k test about 9-10 days and get my pos lh on CD 12-13 which means ovulate between CD 13-15

I read that they should be dine with first morning pee and start on day 11 for a 30 day cycle. Mine was 31 days and I'd always, just to be sure I didn't miss it, start testing on day 9.
