My son didn't listen to me about not using his teeth as tools and now we have to get his two ADULT front teeth replaced

I'm so mad at my 9 year old. We have been telling him for YEARS to stop using his teeth as tools. He was using them to take out staple gun staples from a project and I told him to stop, you're going to ruin your teeth. I said we do not use our teeth as tools (for the millionth time). I told him I would get a staple remover and hammer. He refused to come with me to look and decided he'd rather play outside. I told him fine, but DO NOT use your teeth again to take out staples. That's so dangerous for so many reasons! I'm getting the tools and suddenly I hear a scream and crying and wouldn't you know it... both front teeth gone. Broken off 2/3 and fractured.

Of course we've been to the ER and then the dentist but there's nothing they can do until Friday. Until then, broken sensitive teeth. His dentist said that because of how they fractured, he is going to lose both. We can do a flipper now, and then a bridge in a few months or an implant down the road.

My son is on Tylenol every 4 hours and soft foods until he can have them pulled tomorrow. He is upset and crying and I've been comforting him and saying that we'll get it fixed. He just keeps saying "I want MY teeth back!" I told him that no more using your teeth as tools because this is the consequence of his choice to continue to try and pull staples out with his teeth.

All I can think is that this is why I told him so many times to stop using his teeth. This is why I told him that using your teeth as tools will chip, crack, or break them. This is why I showed him pictures and videos to drive the point home.

So that's how my day is going.

EDIT: The ER said to start with Tylenol but we have some stronger stuff if he needs it. So far Tylenol has been working.

Edit two: teeth are now gone and he's numbed up. He looks like he was in a fight and he's pretty swollen. My husband and I decided on a flipper until we can research more into implants. We don't want a bridge because that's going to compromise his two lateral incisors which are perfectly healthy. Implants scare the crap out of me, and our dentist says that doing them while his jaw is still developing is not something he's comfortable doing. On the bright side, I don't think my son is going to be using his teeth as tools anymore!
