Hi! i found out i have PCOS a couple of weeks ago, i’m 17. My periods have been super super heavy, and they last a long time. My doctor just put me on birth control to hope that will help regulate my period and help with my bad cramps. I’ve read and done a lot of research about PCOS, and i’m just looking to seek some advice about pcos, and about getting pregnant in my future. It scares me to death to even think about me not being able to have my own children one day.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 11 and anovulation (I don't ovulate on my own) at 15. My cycles were so heavy I almost needed transfusions every month. Then one day they just stopped and didn't return. Here's the thing while PCOS can make it more challenging to conceive for some women due to irregular cycles and irregular ovulation the majority of women with PCOS go on to have children. I'm currently on my 4th pregnancy and only 1 of my pregnancies needed ovulation induction to conceive.

Focus on the present and let God handle the future. Fellow PCOS human here. And I did take birth control for 2-3 months but stopped it Cz I’m 19 and I don’t want to mess up with my hormones when I’m still this young. Something that a Dr recommended to me was NAC supplements. They’re amino acid supplements for PCOS patients and honestly that helped with my period and regulated it! I was bleeding for nearly 20 days then I was put on the birth control and I decided to go natural with the supplements and I don’t regret it. So try talking to your Dr about such options (amino acid supplements etc.) and try changing your lifestyle (diet, sleep schedule, exercise etc.) and I’ve heard that drinking spearmint helps regulate hormones but I hav an r tried it so I don’t know. There are PCOS pages on Instagram with coaches who know better than me. So you can go to their pages and see what recommendations they have for heavy and long periods because birth control isn’t the answer! It does help but it causes effects in the long run that aren’t worth it especially since you’re still 17

My mum has PCOS and so do I. She struggled to concieve in an unhappy marriage, then she fell in love with the intern at her office and got knocked up immediately. The lesson I take from this is to be happy and don't put too much pressure on yourself. 
My PCOS has resulted in a couple of cysts that went away, and mood swings, cramps and irregular periods when I'm carrying too much fat in my body. 
Besides that, when I had my eggs frozen at age 36, the doctors said I was incredibly fertile for a woman of my age. They attributed that somewhat to my level of fitness which is nothing spectacular. I just lift weights twice a week and do a little sprinting for my heart strength as a warm up. I also have done intemittent fasting to manage fat content in my body. 
In general this is what I suggest for PCOS. Stay happy, exercise, drink enough water. It would be hypocritical of me to suggest eating healthy, as I struggle with that, but it wouldn't hurt if you could manage it 😂
