Tattoos for Minors?

I came across a post about a 12 yr old getting a tattoo. (Looked real, but who really knows these days) The mom had a ton of tats. One arm was sleeved, so very visible. She seemed like a "normal" person that appeared to have a great relationship with her kids. Everyone was happy, no apparent abuse.           There were a ton of people arguing over whether or not children (especially that young) should be allowed to get tattoos. What do you guys think? Would you allow your 12 yr old to get a tattoo? What age do you think is ok?

I absolutely would not allow a 12 year old to get a tattoo. I don’t think 18 is too long to wait to get a tattoo. That seems like a fine age and they don’t even have to have my permission then!
The only exception I would make is if my child experienced some type of trauma and wanted a small tattoo in a decent location (ankle, inside of forearm) and I felt they were mature enough to understanding the permanency of a tattoo. But I think 16 would be the youngest for that.

Absolutely not. My daughter can wait until she’s 18 for whatever tattoo she may want. There were so many tattoos and piercings I wanted as a teenager that I’m so glad I wasn’t allowed to get.

Absolutely not. I have several tattoos and am currently drawing up 3 more for myself and even a half sleeve for my husband. Every. Single. Person. In my family has tattoos. Some heavily tattooed and some only 1 or 2. No one should be allowed to get a tattoo before the age of 18. Now, I will allow my children to get temporary tattoos that last 2 weeks starting at 13, but they must be easily covered up. Even before 13 I don't mind taking the time to paint on my children's skin or even applying temporary tattoos that last a day or 2. I'm all for self expression, but nothing permanent other than ear piercings before 13. At 13 my kids can get a second ear piercing, but nothing other than lobe piercings before 17. I got my belly button done at 18 and cartilage done at 21. I would never allow such a massive permanent alteration to my kids' bodies before 18 especially one that can be quite painful. Had I gotten the tattoo I wanted at 12 I would have MASSIVELY regretted it. It would have been tacky as hell and just to spite my parents.

I personally wouldn’t allow even my 13yo to get a tattoo, let alone a 12yo. They can get a tattoo when they’re old enough to walk into a tattoo parlor by themselves along with pay for it. I could see something like perhaps a high school graduation gift or something, in which case they would still need parental permission and obviously I would pay for it but that would be about the only expectation for me.

No definitely not. Not only are they too young for that imagine a 12 year old picking out a tattoo.. there’s no way they would still like it when they’re older! If I got to pick a tattoo at 12 I’d probably get a Jonas brothers tattoo or something because I swore I’d love them forever

I have two, I got them when I was 18. I wouldn’t let my children get tattoos that young for two reasons:
1. Children are very impulsive and unless it’s a tribute tattoo or something meaningful, it would probably be something ridiculous like Batman or Mario (in my son’s case lol)
2. Even if they are certain they want the tattoo, little bodies grow and change. The tattoo will most likely look a bit odd depending on placement once they’re fully grown. (Anybody ever watched That’s My Boy?😂)

My husband got a tattoo at 13 when his mom passed away. It was a professional who his dad had come in home to do it. 
I would never let my sons get tattoos before 18 and I would hate for any artist to do them. 
I’m not saying my husband regrets his tattoo but has also said he wouldn’t let our kids get them, even if something happened to me.

It’s disgusting for minors to get tattoos, I remember one friend at 13 got a matching one with her mom for Mother’s Day, it’s horrible

As Jews we don’t do tattoos. Especially as a minors. Nobody is getting a tattoo in this house.
