Childrens clothes ?

This might be a dumb question but I’m new and learning. What’s the difference between the sizes? Like some clothes are specific ex:0-3! Other Ex:only 3M, 6M.  Do 3 M only for 3 month olds or are those like 0-3, or more like 3-6? I feel so stupid but I honestly don’t know.

In the US it's all a damn guessing game. 3rd kid in and I still haven't figured it out. I just put them in whatever fits and disregard sizes. Even across brands. Like 0-3 month may fit in one brand but super snug in another brand.

US baby clothes sizes are so stupid. It’s a guideline, but for example my first wore 6-9m clothes until she was a year old. My second wore 6-9m clothes until she was about 8mo. Some brands use a single “age” as the size and some use a range and some use both for different types of clothes.
I live in the Netherlands and sizes are in centimeters. My 1yo is 78cm tall so I know that most size 80cm clothes will fit her well.

3-6 = 6m
Etc. 
It really is a crapshoot, though. Just put on what fits.
