Would you help solve a Cold Case?

Question

Would you submit DNA to police in order to help solve a cold case? 
Would your answer be different depending on whether they are using your DNA to identify a victim or a suspect?

I would either way. I have nothing to hide. And if someone from my family is trash enough to need to be identified through familial DNA then they deserve whatever punishment they have coming. If it’s for the victim they 1,000% deserve to have justice and someone to stand up and help deliver it in whatever form.

Yes I would. I wouldn't care who it was used to identify. If someone in my family ended up being a murderer or a rapist then they can rot in prison where they belong.

Yeah. I did the 23 and me testing and gave permission for my DNA to be used in the different research and testing they do, I don’t care. I don’t see why others have such an issue with it.

Absolutely, yes. I will eventually upload my Ancestry DNA to GEDmatch.

They’d have to give me the story why.. lol! Cause I’m nosey. 
In our area, a man got away with murder in his 20s..he was not found and convicted until his 70s after a family member did dna&me or something like that that ended up linking them and found he was the long lost murderer.

Absolutely. Doesn't matter if my DNA assists the victim or convicts the suspect. If the police need DNA, I would give it.

This topic came up recently in a group of acquaintances in a very casual sort of way where everyone was like "no way am I putting my DNA into the system!" like it was the most obvious thing, and I was standing there quietly thinking I totally would.  Though the context of the conversation seemed to be about IDing a suspect, so I later wondered if that would matter.
