My late period...

Hey guys so I was supposed to get my period4 days ago and its still not here yet. I've been spotting really lightly but that's about it. Should I wait until my periods a whole 7 days late to test? I'm just freaking out a little because it's been almost a year to the date that we had a miscarriage so I don't want to get my hopes up that I may be pregnant. What would you do?
