Is he wrong?

Today is my birthday. My boyfriend of 9 years knew we were going to go to the movies with my parents and go out to dinner. We didn’t have a time scheduled but still, he knew we were doing this. It takes him 2-3 hours to get ready. Today he wakes up super late and tells me he will be ready a little after 6pm. I ask him if he can be ready before 6 because we want to get going and he starts freaking out and saying he can’t be ready before then. Then he says he’s not going out with us at all. Is he wrong?
