Getting off the pill

Hi all, I recently got off the pill after 6+ years and am now wondering how I go about tracking my period and ovulation. Because I have a partner and am sexually active but don’t plan on having kids anytime soon, I want to make sure I’m doing what’s necessary so that that doesn’t happen. We go off and on with using condoms but on the times we do not use condoms he does the pullout method. He has asked me if he were to cum inside of me when it is NOT my ovulation period, if I still have a chance of pregnancy, or is that only during my ovulation period?
