Hi,

I work full time and have just started maternity leave. My company don’t have an enhanced maternity pay so I’ll get the standard 90% for 6 weeks and statutory for the rest of my leave.

I’m a single parent with 2 other kids and currently not claiming any benefits but have been advised I can claim Universal Credit while I’m on maternity pay. I’m due one more full time pay 15th November as I’m paid in arrears but my pay after that will be the maternity pay.

Question is….when do I start a claim for UC? I’ve been told by some to start my claim asap and others that I should wait until after I’ve been paid on 15th November. Anyone been in a similar situation, when did you apply?
