Husband tattooing his best friends name on him

My husband is getting a tattoo tomorrow of his best friends name with Angel wings. His best friend died last month. He was shot in his car because some thug confused him with someone else. It had to do with some type of drug deal. He wasn't involved. He was just sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time. The guy has been caught. It's sad. He was supposed to graduate with his nursing degree in May and he had so much going for his life. My husband and him had been best friends since 4th grade. I originally had no issues with him tattooing his best friends name but my mom is saying that people may confuse it and think he and his friend were gay or something. Nothing against gay people but my husband isn't. My mom does think it's weird for a man to get another man's name tattooed but she's more worried about people thinking it's a gay thing. My husband has already put down the deposit for this tattoo and gets it tomorrow but my mom continuing to say this makes me worried. My husband has always said he would never tattoo a spouse or girlfriends name which I was fine with. I find that cringe. But what if people do question why he has a guy tattooed but not his wife
