Should we stop trying to potty train?

💕

We are really struggling here. We started potty training Monday. My 3 year old has been holding it in pretty much consistently since then. She can hold it for several hours. She goes little bits throughout the day when her bladder is so overly full, she always stops herself no matter if it’s an accident on the floor or if she’s going in her potty chair or the toilet.

She has a diaper on for bedtime. The last couple nights her diapers barely been wet by the morning. Last night I had to bring her in bed with me too bc she couldn’t sleep bc she was afraid to use her diaper. She wouldn’t use her potty chair either. She only finally used her diaper after having it on for 6 hours and getting herself to sleep

And the thing is she can hold it, but she is literally constantly panicking bouncing around. Whinning/yelling all day long and is constantly on her potty chair bc she knows she has to go but just can’t get it to come out. And I am not exaggerating it’s been nonstop. She’s calmer sitting on her potty chair but she hardly ever goes. The second she stands up after realizing she didn’t go shes always panicking and looks like she’s about to have an accident. She’s having more accidents today than she has all week.

She recognizes she does good when she goes a tiny bit in her potty chair though and will cheer for herself. But she is miserable. We all are. We’ve been very calm and patient. But I am seriously about to lose it and I can tell my husband is too

I know she isn’t in pain or anything. I don’t want it to get to that point of course. It’s behavioral.

She’s been underwear free all week. But I sent my husband to go get pull ups 🤦🏼‍♀️ I don’t even think she will use them besides tiny accidents. She’s not even hardly using her diaper when sleeping. So I’m sure she won’t use her pull up when awake but I think we will all feel better knowing her little leaks are covered.

I just don’t know how to get her out of this cycle. She has to let it out bc all she’s feeling like she can do now is constantly hold it in and do little leaks throughout the day :(
