Failed vasectomy?

My partner had a vasectomy in summer time of 2022. When he went back for his follow up they told him there was no sperm presence. Well fast forward to now, he submitted another sample and the preliminary come back with sperm presence so they sent it off for an analysis. What are the chances this is a failed vasectomy vs nonmotile sperm popping up now.
