Induction Tomorrow 12/26

Mikaela

Today I’m 38 weeks pregnant. I’m super nervous for my scheduled induction. I am scheduled for 7:30 AM, needing to call at 6:00 AM to confirm they’re ready for me. I’ve been having contractions for a while now, baby boy has been head down since 31 weeks, small parts of my mucus plug have come out, belly dropped weeks ago, insomnia, and swelling are at an all time high (no high BP, no proteins in urine, headaches, or any other symptoms of preeclampsia). I was hoping he would’ve come on his own before this but no worries.

With my daughter (almost 6 years ago), I had a random induction after one high blood pressure reading at my NST due to being high risk and having GD. It was 22 hours long, dilation through medical balloon, pitocin, and my epidural wore off. My daughter was average sized 7lbs 4oz, no problems. Pretty traumatic for my first birth after a loss of a baby at 20 weeks.

This time it’s scheduled due to being high risk, my GD turning into Type 2 Diabetes, and under the advisement of my High risk Ultrasound Specialist. My son is approx, 6lbs 10oz as of December 11th (of course he’s probably a little bigger than that now). Though they were projecting him to be much larger (thankfully he’s not). Hence, them wanting to induce to avoid complications to myself and him through vaginal delivery. They anticipated I would have to have a c-section. I’ve been having NSTs twice a week as well as a separate Diabetes Specialist Appt once a week. I’ve been on high intensity insulin treatment (shooting insulin 4 times a day, taking blood sugars 4-5 times a day) and being on a strict diet control which has helped me with his size.

How was everyone else’s scheduled induction experience? Any advice? What kept you calm during the process? Any positional tips?
