Would you name your babies after family members?

My husband and I are less than two months in to TTC baby #1. We have not told his family (my family has a little more info due to certain circumstances), because his mother is extremely overbearing when it comes to this subjects. She likes to tell us how "she's not waiting any longer" for us to have a baby, and has repeatedly suggested naming any children after either my husband, my father-in-law, or herself. This despite us having told her many times that's not what we want.

Anyway this leads me to my question - how many of you plan to name your children after someone? Just curious.

My oldest daughter is named after my husbands grandma. She was a awesome lady. I did change her name slightly n I asked her permission first. She was so excited. My next baby if it's another girl will have my late aunts first name as her middle name if it's a boy we plan on naming him after my husband. I wouldn't name my child after a pushy family member just bc she demanded it. I have to like the name and I have to like the person. My husbands grandma accepted me for me. From day one. She was the best person I have met.

We want to use my dad's name as a middle name, and I'd love to use my grandmother's name somehow since she and I were very close.

Middle name & only if it's a girl. Our moms have the same name. His mother (who past in 2014) has the same middle name as my mom's first name. So if we have girl they will be named after their grandmothers.

We named our son after family members but we just really like the name as well. His first name is after my husband's grandfather and his middle name is after my grandfather, father and brother. We wouldn't have done it unless we really liked the name though and it was totally our choice, no one else ever suggested the name or anything.

In your case, that clearly sounds like you don't want to, so I definitely wouldnt. It's your child (You and your husband's) so you decide. My husband's first name is a family name. His father and grandfather had the same first name and after his father (who I adored) passed away I definitely wanted our son to have that name as well. And my sister and I decided to incorporate each other's middle names into our children's names since they are dropped when we got married.

My oldest middle name is my cousins middle name, my middle child's middle name is after my grandmother and mom, and my youngest middle name is my FIL name. This baby will be that way too

I'm not kidding my mom named my first born that isn't even in existence yet lol! First Middle Last = her maiden name, my maiden name, husbands last name lol!
