Introducing bottle at 6 weeks?

I'm exclusively breast feeding and plan to introduce a bottle at 6 weeks. It's rough at times and when just trying to vent to friends they keep saying I'm crazy and why wouldn't wait 6 weeks, he might deny the bottle if I wait that long. My Lo is almost 3 weeks and I just think it's too early. I don't want him to deny the bottle in 6 weeks but I don't want him to have nipple confusion. Advice welcomed

We actually had to introduce a bottle at 8 days I had an appt I couldn't miss and hubby had to feed her. She's almost 8wks and switches back and forth like a champ! I use avent naturals with a premie size 0 nipple(babies r us sells them separate) so she has to work harder to use the bottle.

I just read a study that said if your baby was full term the chances of nipple confusion are less than 1%. We introduced a bottle 3 days after we got home so his dad could have some bonding time. Never had any issues with nipple confusion and will now take a bottle from anyone or boob. He doesn't care as long as he gets fed. Hahaha.

My guy was in the NICU his first week of life. He got the boob right out of the womb but than was on a bottle with formula for a week. Before we left the hospital he was back on the boob. Don't stress too much! I will say I ended up exclusively pumping after 8 weeks because I was stressing myself out.

I totally feel the same way. My daughter is 3 weeks old too and I want to introduce a bottle soon. My sister in law waited 6 weeks to introduce a bottle and her daughter refused it and then never took a bottle. So it is a decision that is difficult to make of when is the best time. My doctor said that since my daughter is doing such a good job on the breast she shouldn't have any nipple confusion if I introduce a bottle now. I think I am going to try it for the first time this weekend and hope for the best. I just think to myself that either way she will get fed through my breast or a bottle and all will be good!

Have someone else introduce and don't be in the room. You may have to try a few different types.

I tried bottles about 3and a half weeks. She didn't take them so I waited about a week and then tried again. She is now 6 weeks and takes one bottle a day... She still struggles with it but is slowly getting better. You just have to work with them :)

I've had to supplement early on with my second and third. No nipple confusion. I'd say the earlier the better, but that's just me. Never understood why you should wait, especially if you plan on using a bottle. If they don't know anything other than you, I feel they are less likely to transition easily.

It's recommended not to give you baby a bottle before 1 month if the EBF.
