If you are a parent who did or does spanking, what age was your child when you started?

Update: I see that this question has triggered some people. I did say “if you are a parent who did or does spanking” so I guess none of those parents are going to comment due to fear of being judged by others.

I would like to also add that I’m asking because my husband thinks it’s okay, but I would like to raise our children without spanking. We’ve never spanked our daughters but he almost did today, but he didn’t because he was upset and spanking when you’re upset is the worst. My mom used to spank my brothers (as the youngest and only girl, I don’t remember being spanked) but she always cooled off first and never spanked when heated or angry.
