Getting pregnant while obese?

Question

Hi everyone- I've been working on losing weight for about a year now- I'm finally seeing results but according to BMI charts I'm obese. Luckily my blood pressure and bloodwork tests have been normal. I know I'm too heavy to conceive and healthily carry a child right now, but I'm worried I'll never be able too. I'm turning 35 this year and I'm terrified. Has anyone else been in this situation? Thank you so much for reading.

Go for it girl. Keep a healthy diet and stay active. As an OB nurse I've seen women of all shapes and sizes have healthy pregnancies.

I understand how you feel, I too am over weight and wondered if this is why I have yet to carry a baby. I can say this to you, keep fighting, taking it pound by pound day by day. I'm 33 have lost one I know it takes motivation and lots of love. I can say as long as I'm here I'll be a support for you and all other ladies TTC. Do you have any as of now or been pregnant before? You don't have to answer if it's to hard or if just don't want to

I've been obese with all my pregnancies, including twins. I've conceived them all naturally and I had easy and fast labours and deliveries, also completely naturally. I've never had high blood pressure, even during labour when it commonly goes up. I healed quickly from each birth.
Also I've never been considered high risk because of my weight! And I was only considered high risk with my twins because that's an automatic classification, not because there was anything wrong. The only medical professional to ever mention my weight was a bitchy midwife when I was in labour with my first baby. But she was mostly just pissed off that I wouldn't lie on the bed and I kept walking around 😉
There's nothing stopping you from ttc while you're trying to lose weight! Why not do both?

If you're ovulating you can likely still get pregnant.

You won't have a fun time being pregnant however! I've seen a friend go through it. She's exhausted even more than a regular pregnant person, can't hardly stand and walk. And in her third trimester she's getting scans and vitals twice a week, because they're worried about a baby too big to be delivered naturally.

So it's still a great time to try and make weight loss and other healthy habit changes.

If I were in your shoes, I'd stay the course with the weight loss and "pull the goalie" once you and your partner are ready and continue with the weight loss until you get a positive pregnancy test.

You can conceive and have a baby when obese - my sister did it twice 😀
I have two friends that were obese and got on a Paleo diet. They both got pregnant within a couple of months. I am also Paleo for the last year and a half, and I have never been healthier.
It's a super easy, super healthy way of life.

I had no problem getting pregnant and while I hated pregnancy, I had no weight related complications that everyone warns you about. I had a healthy 7lb girl in September
