Let's talk weight gain. Ladies, how we feeling?

So for background I started this pregnancy slightly underweight with a 17.5 BMI at 113lbs. I am 5'6" and have always been part of the itty bitty titty committee and not much of a badonk. My husband has encouraged me to EAT this entire pregnancy, and I have. I eat mostly whole foods, maybe getting fast food once every week. I snack on raw fruits and veggies, pretzels, and other healthy foods. Prior to pregnancy I would struggle to eat more than 1500 calories. After my last OB appointment I am feeling so ashamed. I am 23 weeks and I've already gained the recommended 40lbs. She advised that I need to slow down on the weight gain considering the biggest growth is yet to come. This is my first pregnancy, but I feel all the weight gain is in my boobs and butt. My wedding rings still fit fine. I was just diagnosed with placenta previa so my activity is limited but I still try and do at least 20-30 minutes of light exercise and cycling every day. My bloodwork has come back perfect with just a slight anemia (Ive always had) and my blood pressure was 100/70 last time measured. I'm trying hard to not calorie count, but I am feeling guilty about how much I have gained.

I know this convo is coming for me too! That’s about when my dr told me to watch my weight. I was 130 pre-pregnancy and gained most of my weight first half of pregnancy, was probably at 160 by 20 week appt. I have been pregnant 6 times but only gotten this far twice now (20 weeks today!) but I swear I gain 10 pounds overnight immediately when I become pregnant every time. I did start being a little more cautious of weight after that convo with dr but didn’t go too crazy.I lost all but 7 pounds 1 week postpartum. 1 month postpartum I was back under my pre-pregnancy weight and actually reached my goal weight (before pregnancy) of 125 I don’t know how much I’ve gained this time but im definitely not 125 like I once was! I just know I gain a lot early on and hoping it goes like last time where it becomes more steady the second half lol. Just remember we all gain weight dif while pregnant!

Eat what you want. Don’t listen to them it’s a reccomendation. Not a rule. Pregnancy affects each person differently and you were underweight so you had some catching up to do.

I’m 22 weeks and I’ve gained 10lbs but I’m bigger and don’t need to gain as much as someone your size. Some people pack on a lot at first and then weight gains slows. You never know.
