Eating troubles
So first for context: I’m autistic, and I’ve suspected for a while that I have ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). Because I have episodes where nothing sounds appetizing, and even the thought of eating what we have at home can sometimes make me nauseous. But these episodes only last one day, and usually get appeased via fast food.
But this time, I’ve been struggling for about a week. I haven’t found anything in my home appealing, so I would skip a meal. And when I do eat, I don’t fully finish it. Usually about halfway, it starts tasting gross and feels wrong in my mouth, so I can’t finish it. And tonight, I made something I’ve been looking to eat for a while— and I didn’t even get halfway this time. I ate only about fifteen bites before I couldn’t anymore.
I don’t understand what’s going on. Is it ARFID? And if it is, why is it suddenly so intense? Is it something else? I don’t know. I don’t know what could have caused this, because there haven’t been any real changes in my life or routine. So I don’t really know what to do.
