Is ava and evelyn the same name?

Im having a girl soon and thought i was set. I just haven't been able to settle on many names. My mil is evelyn and not to be mean i don't want a name similar to hers. To me they sound diff but i guess they are somehow related to ea other? I don't want name regret. Do you think she would think it was like her name? My husband says the names don't sound alike. Help? I think she looks like an ava too from the ultra sound photo.

I don’t think they are, but if it’s going to bother you then maybe go in a different direction. What about Ada? It’s so similar to Ava, a bit more unique, and that much further from Evelyn.

They both have the v sound, but I wouldn’t say they’re the same name. Eva/Eve and Evelyn, sure. But Ava is a completely different name, you should be fine.
