Hi everyone, I’m 23 years old and I’m not exactly trying to get pregnant but i’ve been having unprotected sex for the last 6 months (with the same partner) and he does finish in me every time but I have yet to get pregnant. I have very regular, healthy periods and i’m almost positive I ovulate but I only go based off of period tracker apps. Just wondering if there are any other ladies who’s experienced the same issues and still ended up pregnant. Or if I should go see a gynaecologist to see, maybe it’s my partner, i’m not sure.

Generally, they wont start fertility testing until youve been ttc for a year. I wouldnt jump to conclusions based off 6 months of ntnp.

Ideally, you only really have about a 20-30% chance of getting pregnant each cycle and that’s if you do everything correctly. My husband and I have been having unprotected sex for the entire 6 years we’ve been together. He used the pull out method up until August of 2022 when we moved into our house. We decided we weren’t going to pull out anymore and see what would happen. We were having sex when we felt like it, not tracking my ovulation or anything and I was getting regular periods and that went on up until this past November. I bought ovulation tests and tested one cycle (we had a conversation about trying for a baby but not until mid 2024). I decided to play around that cycle to see what would happen so I tested my ovulation, did a lot of research for ttc and ended up pregnant lol. I’m 10 weeks now! We’re very excited and even though it happened a lot sooner than we thought (we didn’t think it would happen on the first try or that quickly) we are stoked. So it’s all within good timing. I wasn’t even sure if my body was ovulating prior to this and hadn’t thought much more about it because the discussion of kids wasn’t something we had really discussed, we were just kind of “if it happens, it happens”. So I think if you’re going to try, do all the research you can, but ovulation tests and don’t stress it too much.

That’s definitely where I’d start! I got to wondering because I saw a random tiktok pop up that said “just because you get regular periods every month doesn’t mean you’re ovulating”, and it made me think so I bought ovulation tests. I figured I’d see what my body was doing so I could be prepared for when we DID start trying. And even though the tests were positive around the time my app was estimating I should be ovulating, it’s hard to tell if you actually even are, you know? But what a relief to know I was when I found out I was pregnant 😂 so I think that’s a great place to start. I also did a ton of research on getting pregnant and trying to conceive. It made me feel better knowing it’s a small chance of getting pregnant each month anyways, even if you are super fertile and it’s more about timing than anything. Sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days so as long as you know when you’re ovulating (about) and you have sex 1-3 times around those times, you have a pretty good chance! But don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t happen the first time around. When my husband and I weren’t tracking all of that and having sex without pulling out, we never ended up pregnant. It’ll happen when it’s meant to 🫶🏻🫶🏻

thank you!!! honestly i always worry every month when i get my period because i’m like i should at least be pregnant lol but i guess it just depends on my body! i’ll look into ovulation strips just so i can see if my ovulation is accurate with the app :) also congratulations🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
