Scheduled Induction?

Today my Dr. said I can go ahead and schedule an induction as early as 39 weeks. Just wanted some feedback from anyone who has done this and if you feel like it was the right thing for you? I’m very impatient to meet baby girl but don’t want to kick her out the womb too soon if she needs the time!

Dating pregnancies is pretty inaccurate. While it’s convenient to have a plan, there’s no telling whether your baby is ready to come out unless you wait for spontaneous labor.

Best to wait unless there’s a true medical need of course. Induction carries risk which I hope your OB completely laid out for you. There’s an increased risk for hemorrhage, fetal stress, c section.

This seems to be a new thing. Doctors are more willing to do elective inductions at 39 weeks. My doctor won’t induce unless medically necessary before 41 weeks. So as impatient as I am, and I went a week late with my first 2, I wouldn’t do an elective induction. Spontaneous labor is the best way to know your body and baby are ready.

Highly recommend waiting! I was induced due to a medial reason and the induction efforts failed to get labor started, I never dilated past 3cm. I ended up with a c-section.

If you have an option I’d def wait. My first induction did not go very well. Everything ended up fine though and baby did great. It was just a really tough and long labor. And very painful lol. I don’t think my body was ready. I just think it would’ve gone a bit smoother waiting for my body to be ready. I would def prefer to try waiting to go into labor naturally. I’m gonna have to be induced again this time around if I don’t go naturally earlier which I guess I’m ok with. I just think things would’ve gone better and not as rough with going into labor naturally lol

I scheduled an induction but my first came naturally at 38weeks. This baby has been trying to come early for weeks so I’m not even going to bother scheduling because she’ll probably be here in the next week
