What would you do?

What would you do if your husband said, "don't be a dick." To his 10 year old son?

Before we got together I made my parenting style very clear and expressed how important it is to me to have a home without yelling, name calling or demeaning of any kind. He expressed the same.

I've noticed this response a few times, always bring it up and it's met with defensiveness and justification, and a, "I don't think it's as big of a deal as you do."

I'm so torn on how to proceed from here, some of his behaviour isn't what he led me to believe it was and I won't compromise on this or allow it to continue, but I can only do so much if he all of a sudden thinks some names called aren't a big deal.
