IVF @ 44

🌈NUALA🩺👣

I am going through my 5th IVF cycle and my 4th Doctor. My husband is 65. I have 3 from a previous marriage and he has 1. We don’t have any together. We have been trying since 2015. In 2016 naturally pregnant we had a miscarriage. 2017 IVF. 1st transfer failed, 2nd was successful and our baby died in the 2nd trimester. Had to have a medical abortion.

2018 had a natural pregnancy, then miscarriage

2019 natural pregnancy with a miscarriage

2019 IVF ended in miscarriage I have 11 embryos. Had 2 transfers that year. And unsuccessful.

2020 natural pregnancy with twins, miscarriage

2021 natural pregnancy in tight tube. It burst my tube and had to have my only working tube removed.

2022 had another transfer and my baby died in early 2nd trimester the week of Mother’s Day.

As of today, we have the courage to continue. We have had multiple testing and I have had multiple procedures to ensure that everything was good for any development. During those pregnancies I had ultrasounds weekly along with blood testing. I still have 2 frozen embryos remaining. But the clinic doesn’t want me to transfer them unless I have genetic testing and do another egg retrieval.

We decided to contact someone else and get a second opinion. This one reproductive endocrinologist got us 🧬 genetic testing. We found out that we are genetically almost the same. Which explains the miscarriages and some of them were due to extra chromosomes, and this would cause my body to reject some of the pregnancies. This explained so much! I also have an overactive immune response as well, which doesn’t help.

Just to be clear, my husband and I are not related. He is 🇨🇲 Cameroonian, and I am 🇪🇬 Egyptian & American 🇺🇸. So this doctor is going to do a different protocol and since I’m now 44. I will be 45 this year, so time is of the essence!

I am inviting everyone on my journey, as this is our last hoorah!!! I am a believer and know that we will be successful. We have been through so much! As a couple we have loved & fought each other. Our marriage has been difficult 😞 due to multiple pregnancy loss. But we are now in a happy healthy place in our marriage. We are both healthy, I have no medical conditions and I am on no medications. I did gain some weight over the years from the multiple pregnancies and trauma to my body. But I’m working on that as week speak. We eat healthy and organic, and I exercise 3-4 times a week.

I am open to all questions, suggestions and help. I have had most of my pretesting and uterine scans and all those things. So next month late February is a go! My cycle will cost me roughly $12k, but doesn’t include the 🧪 labs, ultrasounds or medication 💊. 🤦🏽‍♀️
