Ovulation is only one day, so there is no “first day” so to speak. It lasts for about 24 hours. The egg will die if it’s not fertilized within about  12-24 hours after being released. As far as making sure you hit that window, use ovulation pee tests. The LH surge begins 1-3 days before the egg is released. So basically start having sex when you get your positive test, and for 3 days afterwards! You can never pinpoint the exact 24 hrs the egg is there which is why we call it an “ovulation window” even though it’s only a day.
