My oldest just turned 5 a few weeks ago. We do 1 big gift and then a book and some smaller things. We asked what she wanted for her bday and she wants to build a community pantry/library to put at the end of the driveway so we can give people who meed it food and any extra plant starts or extra produce we grow. Plus books because "everyone needs books mom...". Then asked if.her little gifts could be some stuff to stock it when I finishing building it. And she asked if she coukd have more books just for her...but its ok if not, we always have the library. I am amazed and so very very very proud of my 5 yr old. We read a book last summer about a community pantry and 8 months later she still was thinking about it. We still surprised her with a big gift but we are currently building her pantry and I can't wait to see who my little human becomes. I am so incredibly proud of my child and how.caring she is.
