Would you have left in this situation?

When my husband and I first moved into our apartment, he bought his first firearm. He isn’t new to them at all. He’s military, and he’s used them before. Well, this was his first real personal form of home defense. It was also like a new shiny toy to him in a way.

Fast forward a while later, he’s been constantly dry firing it (cycling it without ammo for those of you who aren’t familiar). He would also cycle it with live rounds in it sometimes. This habit of his went south one evening.

While he was cycling it with a live round, it misfired. It went straight through a wall and into our bathroom. The round hit the metal shower caddy we had and deflected into the ceiling. Had it not hit this shower caddy, it would’ve continued its path into our neighbors side. Thankfully that never happened.

I was downstairs when I heard the loud boom, and it scared me to death. I honestly thought he had shot himself somehow. Later he called the police himself to report it. Had it gone into the neighbors side he would’ve been charged, and we both would have been evicted. Lucky for him, we never were. There weren’t even any charges pressed since it never hurt anyone.

He’s still very much obsessed with guns, and it’s just bothering me more and more. This hobby is all consuming and it has also affected my life. Would you have left this marriage? I’m having other issues with our relationship, so I’ve just been mulling things over in my mind.
