When did you move baby out of infant car seat?

Our almost 8 month olds feet are now hanging out of the bottom of the infant car seat and he’s got maybe 2 inch from his head at the top. I know the seat says up to 35lbs and 1 inch away from the top. We already bought the upgraded car seat but man I’m so sad to move him out. More so, I don’t know how I can easily bring him places without the infant car seat 😂 everyone I talked to waited until after a year and I was like huhhhhhh?! My baby is on the petite side and I feel like he’s outgrown it, how did y’all go that long?

We waited until he maxed out the height requirements. Which was 30 inches for ours.

We moved her whenever she maxed out. She’s on the small side too, so it was probably around a year. She didn’t like being in the infant car seat when out and about very long. She mostly rode in the stroller starting around four to six months.

We switched at 10 months. We got the new big car seats for our babies first Christmas and it was easier to put them in the car and use them vs keeping the giant boxes laying around until she sized out. (We got a lifetime car seat, so she was ok to switch) At 10 months carrying her in the infant car seat was cumbersome and we didn’t do it as often. It was easier to just carry her or put her in the baby wrap/carrier.

We changed it at right after a year. It says 30 inches, she was 29.5 inches when we changed her out lol. Mine didn’t like being strapped in when out of the car anyway at that age, so before a year we didn’t really unclip the whole seat and use that feature as much anyway! The seat seemed to fit her that whole time too

We moved my daughter when she was around 8 or 9 months old to a rear facing convertible car seat. We already weren’t really carrying her around in the infant car seat anymore anyway.

we never got an infant seat for my oldest, but he probably wouldn’t have lasted as long as my youngest, he was a chunk lol but my youngest will be 10m this month and is still in his, but he was a preemie so he’s a bit smaller, he’s about to be too heavy for me to carry in his seat though

Around 5-6 months old. But we never took the infant.seat out of the car. Used the bassinet and then the toddler seat just laying flat. 
But remember that feet hanging out over the car seat isn't a problem, and definitely not a reason  to start front facing!
