Progesterone pill 5w 3d

I just received a call from my doctor reviewing my labs with me and they said my progesterone is low and they prescribed a pill that I have to insert vaginally two times a day. Has anyone else had to do this in early pregnancy? I didn’t have to do this with my first one. My progesterone was 9.9. Another thing is I asked is it absolutely necessary that I do this and they said no. I have another sonogram in a week and I think they’re going to take my blood again to check my levels. I was thinking about waiting until after the next sonogram to start.
