What age do kids play alone at friend's house?

I'm curious at what age y'all start allowing your kids to be at a friend's house without you also being there with them? I'm not talking about family friends or people you already know well, I mean more like a friend from school or new neighbors where you dont know them very well yet, your kid asking to go to their house to play/hang out. Thoughts?

Never. My son is almost 8. He won’t be playing with anyone, anywhere without me or his dads. I have to get to know people well before my child is in their home.

For our family that answer will be never. I experienced a LOT from going to friends houses. Everything from guns being pointed at the moms, drugs, SA, beatings, horribly unsanitary living conditions, literally needing to hide in a closet then climb out of a window and run for my life, alcohol, forced porn, domestic violence, ect. It's straight up not an option for our kids. If they want to hang out with a friend it'll be in a public place or at my house in common areas, never bedrooms. Aside from that our oldest has a lot of very dangerous allergies and all it would take is one mistake and she would be hospitalized or dead. Not taking that chance.

My daughter’s classmate lives a few houses down. I let her go over when she’s invited for a while to play. They are 8, I know the parents and walk her about half way. I also drop her off at birthday parties and pick her up at the end. I recently let her travel with her friend and her mom about an hour and a half away for a gymnastics thing, but the mom is one of my closest friends, and it was a day trip, not overnight. Some of my best memories are playing with the neighborhood kids at that age. I feel like it’s important to give a little bit of independence sometimes.

We started around age 11/when they were in 6th grade.

My mother didn’t like for us to go over our friends home unless she met the parents and actually known known them , and us living in very very close proximity of eachother for example living in the same building or our friends building are close in range. 
She’d let us go play over our friends homes for a little as long as those conditions were met , but never allowed us to stay the night. 
My mother just didn’t and don’t trust people and I don’t blame her. 
The first time I ever stayed over someone’s house I was in elementary school and my friend was having a girls night. The only reason I was even allowed to stay the night because 1.somehow my mother knew my friend parents , 2.only because we lived 1 building away from each other & 3. My friend was having a girls night/slumberparty. If any of those 3 weren’t giving … I wouldn’t not have been able to spend the night.
