Should I Bother Taking Birth Control If I Don't Ovulate and No Longer Want Kids?

I have PCOS with Insulin issues. I had to use Metformin to get pregnant with both my babies since I wasn't ovulating. My husband and I agreed we're done having kids. Do I really need to use some kind of contraception if I had to take medications in order to get pregnant in the first place? It seems kind of silly and there doesn't seem to be much research on it. My OB said "there's always a chance you could get pregnant", but they don't really acknowledge my PCOS outside of when I wanted to get pregnant.

Even with PCOS and needing help to get pregnant previously, yes it is possible to get pregnant if you are having sex without some form of contraception. Granted, it is less likely, but still possible. 
If you don’t want to take hormonal birth control, what about condoms? Or if you are sure you are done would he get a vasectomy?

Yes as you can spontaneously ovulate on your own at any random given time.

Yes. That mindset is exactly how 3 of my 4 pregnancies has happened. With our first baby I hadn't ovulated in a decade and thought it wouldn't matter. A week later I ovulated and got pregnant. We lost the baby, but still. Did ovulation induction to get our oldest as a first step towards IVF and it worked. Next baby I was refused birth control as I "couldn't conceive naturally." 5 months pp I was pregnant. Next baby I got off of birth control with your mindset and a few months later I was pregnant at 19 months pp. You still need birth control if you don't want more children.
