Can other people smell me?

This has been a burning question on my mind. Previously I have had BV and I only found out because my gynaecologist told me through a Pap smear result, not because I got checked for BV specifically. Now I never noticed a “fishy smell” coming from myself, and in fact was completely blindsided by my gynaecologist when she told me over the phone that I had BV because I really never noticed any symptoms she told me that it should go away on its own. Now I am thinking back on that time, and wondering if it could be possible that I did have a smell coming from my vagina that I never noticed? I know people say it’s a “fishy” smell, but I’m worried now that maybe I was just nose blind to the smell? Has this happened to anyone else?
