Help - Alcoholic husband?

He needs rehab. If he refuses you need to leave. He cannot be around baby while drunk and he certainly can’t help care for baby. Staying is enabling.

My husband is also an alcoholic. He’s working on himself now but it is a lifelong struggle. I tried convincing him to get help and tried pushing him in the right direction and nothing worked. I eventually just started working on myself and attended Al-Anon meetings for friends and family members of alcoholics. Not only did that help my insight but it helped my husband to see that his problem was really effecting my mental health and well being. There is no one answer but the Al- Anon meetings really helped me to not feel alone and to understand how to control my own life. Eventually life events or whatever reason lead my husband to truly work on himself and he never did go to rehab or AA as I kept trying to persuade him to do. Everyone is different but everyone needs to want change. It won’t stick if they try quitting for someone else, they need to see for themselves what all is being effected. 
I wish you the best of luck, because other than being pregnant with my husband, I’ve been in your situation.

I am so sorry you are going through this, I can’t offer any solutions because I myself wouldn’t know what to do. But It sounds like you love your husband and your baby, y’all are a family now. Maybe give him an ultimatum, he can either sober up, get help, AA.. etc because it’s not healthy for him or for you and your baby. Alcoholism only gets worse.. from experience, I’ve seen multiple family member through the years be a total sweethearts when drunk to really mean and abusive, you never know what could happen and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
I hope he can get help with the last few weeks until your baby is born.

Sounds like a functional alcoholic. Mine was similar. 
Issue is if they are physically addicted they will become really unwell when stopping drinking, and can experience life threatening withdrawal (have a google if you haven’t already) I’m a nurse and used to work in detox….. I made my partner go without alcohol for a week cuz I needed to know if he was physically dependent. He wasn’t. (How the hell, he wasn’t I will never know.) 
We go through phases, of low alcohol where he might have 1-2 a night sometimes and then other nights were he only drinks no-alcohol cider. Then we go through phases where he’s pushing his luck and drinking as much as he can before he gets bollocked. 
I’m pregnant (1st trimester) and remind him how once baby is here. He will not be drinking period, 1) not having the baby breathing in stinking booze off him 2) safety in case he falls with baby 3) incase he falls asleep in bed with baby and rolls onto them. 
I showed my partner articles based on the risks of drinking when you have a newborn and it helps a lot. I also remind him if I can go without alcohol for the pregnancy, he can do it for me.
