How long of a period is too long?

I have been bleeding for 11 days, and it looks like there is no end in site! What could this be and when should I go to the er? I have pinching like dual pains on my right side and my stomach.... update..Came back from the doctors and apparently IM HAVING A THREATENED Miscarriage!
