Car accident

Not sure where to pin this topic, but I was involved in a car accident I’m going through the other parties insurance to fix my car, my insurance told me to reach out to the other parties insurance to file a claim for my car to be repaired, my lawyer advised me not to talk to them because they would try to settle for my injuries. I couldn’t get a hold of my lawyer at the moment, but would that go against me even if it’s for my repairs?
