AITAH for uninviting my "friend"?

So there's a lot of detail to this story but I'm going to remove much of it for anonymity.

Basically, a few months ago, I invited my friend from out of town to my house for a weekend. Since then, I found out they have been fired from their job for illegal activities and lost visitation with their child due to these activities. Prior to this situation, this friend has been in no trouble. I reached out to the friend to see how they were doing, who then asked me for money (thousands of dollars) for legal fees. I said no and sent job applications to them so they could make ends meet. They apparently didn't like that and stopped responding to my messages after that. Since they no longer will respond, I sent one final message uninviting them from my home (I was planning to uninvite them regardless because I have children and protecting them is my main priority). AITAH?
