Brushing teeth

Does anyone has any trouble with trying to get their toddler to brush their teeth. My son is 2 almost 3 I been started brushing his teeth but now he’s at the point where he don’t wanna brush them I have such a hard time trying to get him to brush them he will open his mouth for a few seconds soon as I stick the toothbrush in he will bite down on it. When I try to brush around the side of his mouth he hollers and pushes me away like it hurts him or something (I don’t even brush hard) unless the toothbrush is rough and hurting his teeth. The struggle is real for me.
