In my case, I used as many things as I could from my first especially the “big ticket” items. I was able to use the same infant car seat and stroller from my first—but you have to check and make sure the car seat isn’t expired (check the bottom of the car seat), however I did need to buy a new convertible car seat since my oldest is still using hers. I had to buy a good bit of clothing because my first was a girl and second was a boy—even same gendered siblings may need different clothes if their birthdays are in different seasons. All new bottle nipples and pacifiers, but I reused the actual bottles and bottle warmer from my first. I bought a new crib mattress but used the same crib as I had for my first. I bought a new sound machine because my first still uses hers. I bought a large play pen to have somewhere safe to put baby since the older sibling has a lot of tiny toys that aren’t baby safe. I reused my high chair and baby gates/baby proofing things. Do an inventory of the baby things you still have and check for damage and that there weren’t any recalls of your items. Then make a list of what you need to buy to fill the gaps. I recommend making a baby registry even if you aren’t having a shower since it’s a nice place to collect your ideas and with some places (like Amazon) you get a 15% off completion discount for your registry items which you can usually even use on things like diapers/wipes.
