Can ovulation test pick up pregnancy?

Hello, 
I am due for my period and have been having some discharge and cramping similar to when I ovulate. I took pregnancy tests on 12dpo that were negative. I decided to take ovulation tests and the clear blue advanced came up a solid smile and the strip was reading high… I’m so confused..has anyone had this happen to them and be pregnant?

LH and HCG are molecularly similar, so yes, it’s possible to have a positive OPK while pregnant, however, your pregnancy test was negative, which means you aren’t pregnant or your HCG levels haven’t met the threshold for that particular test. An OPK result won’t override the pregnancy test result as you can’t use OPK’s in lieu of pregnancy tests. They aren’t meant to be used in sick a way. It’s also very common and happens more often than not, to have a positive OPK during the mid-later part of the TWW due to a secondary Estrogen surge, which can cause a temporary rise in LH. Most people won’t know this unless they’re testing with OPK’s at that time, which generally isn’t recommended. Do you not already test with OPK’s during the right timeline of your cycle? Did you already have a positive?

Yes but a pregnancy test would also be positive in that case.

If they were picking up hcg youd also have enough hcg for a pregnancy test.
