Should I say something to her? Is she trying to rip me off for more money?
So I’ve been looking for a couch for quite some time, I just haven’t been able to get one due to not having a way to haul furniture I don’t know anyone with a truck. I made a post asking if anyone was getting rid of one and said my price max was $300 I did not want to spend anymore than that.
I also included that it would need to be delivered and I would obviously pay a separate delivery fee. Well this girl said she had a couch and she would sell it to me for $300. I saw a pic of it and liked it so I told her I wanted it and I would pay an additional $50 if she could deliver she said yes. She brought it about 2 hours later and I noticed when she and her bf brought it in my house that there were some damp spots on it and it smelled like fabric detergent like she had cleaned it up a little.
She told me she cleaned it with a bissel and I told her thank you and even gave her $10 extra for spot cleaning it. I sent her the $350 on cashapp for the couch and delivery fee and they left. Well 5 mins later RIGHT after they leave, my phone dings and it’s a cashapp request from her for an additional $50. I immediately text her and asked if she meant to send that to me or why is she requesting more money and she said yes she’s sorry but the persons who’s truck was used to bring the couch wants $50 as well.
I thought that’s what the the additional delivery fee was for..? And even if it wasn’t I just paid her $310 for the couch alone, pay your friend for using the truck out of that..? She already knew that $300 was my limit and I already went $60 over that.. so now another $50 will make $410… I told her fine I understand and appreciated that they delivered it and that I would send it tomorrow whenever I’m able to put more money on my card because I sent her everything I had tonight, but now that the couch has been here a few hours it’s dried and I’m noticing a STRONG smell of animal urine. Like overwhelming.
I’m pregnant so I have a strong sense of smell and it’s awful. I just didn’t notice it at first because it was still wet with cleaner when she delivered it. She told me it was in great shape no stains etc she said nothing about pets. Should I just ignore her if she texts me about the extra $50 or say something about the pee smell?
Should I still send the $50 for whoever’s truck was used? Does it sound like she’s taking advantage? I’m just not okay with ultimately spending $410 on a couch that noticeably reeks of urine.
