Baby is here! Oh and Surprise... No epidural!l

Megan
Monday morning we welcomed Calvin Richard into the world, a day before his due date. We got into L&D and I was in intense pain (she asked what my pain was on a scale of 1 - 10 where 10 is your arm being torn off, I said 9...) with contractions coming 2 minutes apart and only 3 cms dilated I said "I need the epidural now!" My nurse called anesthesiology and they say "oh, that patient isn't a candidate due to a condition she had when she was born." Needless to say I was swearing, and the nurse says "your on speaker, the patient heard that and is not happy you will need to come and explain why." This is something that I wish they would've told me nine months ago so I could've planned better than just telling everybody "oh I'm getting an epidural." But, even though I kept saying "I can't do this" and "just cut the baby out of me" it all worked out and just 2 hours later I met this little perfect being. The months of pregnancy and the labor pain was instantly gone.
