Is predator catching unethical?
My friend told me she wanted to start a YouTube channel trying to catch and take down predators like the show to catch a predator and wanted me to do it with her. As a victim as a childhood SA I told her sure and was telling my boyfriend about her idea and he got pretty upset and said how unethical it is and he hates the show to catch a predator and hates Chris Hanson. Then he told me his BROTHER was on the show years ago. He wasn't a predator. He was the victim and he was a child and the show made it look like the guy was caught and everything was fine but when it came to court everything fell apart because it was considered unlawful how things were done and the guy wasn't even charged. My boyfriend told me if you do research on Chris Hanson you would know that a majority of those cases fell through like that and a majority of those predators never got charged because of how he did things. They were just publicly humiliated and he was mad saying all Chris Hanson did was exploit victim, make his money and never really put anybody away and if me and my friend want to stop predators go be cops or something instead of trying to exploit victims for money. I felt really sad by that because I'm not trying to exploit anyone. I was an SA victim myself. I didn't even know this about his brother but we have only been dating for 6 months. I know his brother is a touchy subject because he committed suicide years ago and he has a tattoo in honor of him so I'm not trying to take what he said too personally. But is it really wrong to try to catch predators? I always saw it as protecting children.
